Overview

The BSI C++ panel, more formally known as IST/5/-/21, is responsible for the UK standardisation process for C++. Much of this work involves interaction with SC22/WG21 the ISO working group for C++.

The BSI, as the the UK National Standards Body (NSB), registers members of the panel with ISO as "Individual Experts" and they represent the UK at SC22/WG21.

Meeting Schedule

A lot of work is done electronically though a members-only email list and there also are a number of online meetings held each year; although a combination of time zones and other commitments means that not all members can attend every meeting.

Meetings were normally held at the BSI: 389 Chiswick High Road, London, W4 4AL, but since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic all meetings have been held online. These and other relevant panel meetings are shown in our Google Calendar.

Membership

The BSI C++ panel consists of a number of people who share a common interest in C++ and a desire to help with standardising the language as it continues to develop.

Membership of the BSI C++ Committee is voluntary. There is no payment for membership nor charges for joining.

To apply please complete the form at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BSI-Standards-Maker-App listing your preferred committee as "IST/5/-/21 - C++"

Before applying you may want to have an up to date CV ready and possibly any affiliations if you are joining on behalf of an employer or another organisation. However, most of our existing members have joined as individual experts.

If you have a specialism in C++, or more widely in programming, mention this as we have had applications rejected by the BSI as the requestor did not provide good enough reasons for their application to be approved.

If you have further questions please email.
